Trinitron

Sony's brand name for its line of aperture grille cathode ray tube televisions and computer monitors. Sony held a patent for the design for many years -- only with the patent's expiry did other manufacturers begin making aperture grille designs in great quantities, usually using a similar "-tron" brand name.
