The term trillion can mean more than one thing:

  • In Canadian and American usage, one trillion equals 1,000,000,000,000, or 1012[?], or one million millions. Britain and Australia traditionally used the European version, but have recently largely switched to the U.S. usage.

  • In traditional European usage, one trillion equals 1,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 1018[?], or one million million millions.
