Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace was the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire since after the conquest of Constantinople in 1453. The palace is located on the edge of the old city of Istanbul, having a view of both the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara.

The palace was started to be built during the reign of Sultan Mehmed Han, who conquered the city and additions were made until the 19th century, when the Sultans decided to move to the Yildiz Palace.

Today it serves as an imperial museum.
