Tiraspol

Tiraspol - the second largest city in Moldova, capital of self-proclaimed Transnistrian Republic[?]. Population of 184,000 in 1990. It was a capital of the Moldavian Autonomous SSR (part of Ukrainian SSR) from 1929 to 1940. One of the most developed industrial cities in Moldova. Population by ethnicity: Russians 41 percent, Ukrainians 32 percent, Moldovans 18 percent.
