Time division multiple access

Redirected from Time Division Multiple Access

1. Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), one standard for shared medium (usually radio) networks. Allows several users to share the same frequency by dividing it into different time slots. Used in the GSM digital cellular standard, among others.

2. The name "TDMA" is also used for one of the second generation mobile phone technologies, which uses the TDMA technique to timeshare the bandwidth of the carrier wave. It provides between 3 to 6 times the capacity of its predecessor AMPS, and also improved security and privacy.
