Thessaly

Thessaly (Θεσσαλια) is a department of Greece, located along the Aegean Sea. To the north of Thessaly is the "arm" that extends to Turkey, and to the south is the southern half of Greece. Its capital is Larissa[?].

Its geography consists of a ring of mountains surrounding a central plain. It has a distinct summer and winter season, with summer rains augmenting the fertility of the plains. This has led to Thessaly occasionally being called the "breadbasket of Greece".
