The Chevin is the name given to the south side of
Wharfedale near the town of
Otley. A roman road ran along the top of the Chevin between the towns of Eboracum (
York) and Olicana (
Ilkley). The modern road there is still called Yorkgate. The chevin is largely covered in attractive old woodland and heathland..
