Teplice

Teplice (German: Teplitz) is a city of Czechia in Bohemia, Usti nad Labem Region[?]. Population: 53,000.

It is situated in the plain of the Bela, which separates the Ore Mountains from the Ceske Stredohori[?], and is a famous spa town.

The thermal springs are fabled to have been discovered as early as 762, but the first authentic mention of the baths occurs in the 16th century. The town is mentioned in the 12th century, when Judith, queen of Vladislav I[?] of Bohemia, founded here a convent for Benedictine nuns, which was destroyed in the Hussite wars. Teplice figures in the history of Wallenstein, and is also interesting as the spot where the monarchs of Austria, Russia and Prussia first signed the triple alliance against Napoleon in 1813.
