Tamil is one of the Dravidian languages of India. Tamil is perhaps the oldest language in that group, and is still spoken today by around 60 million people around the world.
Tamil also refers to one who speaks the language. It also refers to a culture principally of southern India and North-Eastern Province of ancient ceylon now called Tamil Eelam Ceylon. These people are related to the Dravidian people who have been in India since the Indus valley civilizations.
