What about famous IEEE standards such as IEEE 1394 (a.k.a. "firewire" or "i-link")? And what does the IEEE do? If Apple developed the firewire technology, what did IEEE do? standardize it? rubber stamp it? Would IEEE 1394 be a ... standard? Protocol? Technology? I see the description here (http://standards.ieee.org/announcements/afwemmy), and I use it for DV editing, but I don't feel comfortable writing about it. anyone?
