Talk:Hutt City

Interestingly Hutt City is not actually the formal or offical name of this locality.

Offically named Lower Hutt by the New Zealand Geographic Board (http://www.linz.govt.nz/rcs/linz/pub/web/root/core/Placenames/SearchPlaceNames/searchplacenames/index.jsp?p=53465 ) the Lower Hutt City Council changed its legal name as part of a branding exercise to Hutt City Council (see the Lower Hutt City (Name of City Council) Act 1991 (http://rangi.knowledge-basket.co.nz/gpacts/local/text/1991/an/002)) and started using the term Hutt City in place of Lower Hutt to describe the area. Lower Hutt remains the offical name of the area.
