    Holger Pedersen invented the term Nostratic in 1903, although one source said 1931.

The Nostratic hypothesis was first proposed in Holger Pedersen's 1931's book The Discovery of Language: Linguistic Science in the 19th Century", of which I own a copy. The relevant section starts on page 334 in my edition (1st Ed., Harvard University Press). -- Paul Drye
