Talk:Frey and Freyya

Please note that Freyr and Freya are already dealt with under separate entries and are as near complete as an outline article on a subject as diffuse as an extinct mythos can be. The arguments raised about Freya have been comprehensively and rigorously explored in this article and the feminist tags dealt with. The some sources are as authoratitive as they can be: the information in point is derived directly from the Elder Edda. The main page here is fundamentally redundant unless anyone wishes to fully explore the relationship between them, in which case it should be #REDIRECTed to Freyr and Freya[?].

I created this page, but i agree that it is redundant. Funny, those two links didn't show in my browser at the time ... I suggest sending this one to Page titles to be deleted. - clasqm.

On a separate note, I personally would have preferred Frey to Freyr but I am aware that the arguments for Freyr as the form are equally strong. I saw no good reason to undermine Anders Torlind's sterling work in this area on a matter of orthographic pedantry. We might at some future point issue rediects for Frey if we feel the need is overwhelming, but it is fairly apparent to anyone with an interest in Norse Mythology who we are dealing with here.sjc

Just checking and had a quick look at Freyr. This could do with more work, and I'll resolve this tomorrow. I thought it was near definitive but Anders and I only had a small spat about Freya so I hammered it. I'll add it to sjc/todo[?].sjc

"According to some sources, Freyya had a hall in Asgard that rivalled Odin's Valhalla and she was entitled to half of the fallen heroes." -- This is news to me! How about a cite for this?

Anders and I had nothing to do with part 1 of the above (relative to Freya's hall) but if you look we have dealt with the second assertion comprehensively enough in the Freya page. sjc
