Talk:Dog breeds

Is a cockapoo a real breed? Also, I'd always heard cockerpoo, for cocker spaniel and poodle?? JHK --- The answer to a real breed may not be clear but both names describe the same breed. Take a look at: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/cockerpoo.htm --rmhermen

---

I see that "A Pointer is a common data type...". The Pointer pointer points to Pointer, the data type. There should be some other naming convention here. Kolden

The AKC has a list of their recognized breeds, and I'll enter them and figure out a way to indicate which breeds are recognized by whom. There is much controversy in the breeder world about this breed and that breed, don'tcha know. ;-)

The AKC commonly capitalizes breeds as they are names. Shall we follow that convention or not?

Also, the AKC names sometimes include the word Dog, e.g., "Anatolian Shepherd Dog".

Any interest in a standard outline format for dog breeds? I'm going throw a really rough page up at WikiProject Dog breeds. I only suggest it because it give people a better idea of what sort they might want to include in an article. -D
