The racial makeup of the city is 75.25% White, 15.78% African American, 1.02% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.99% from other races, and 1.55% from two or more races. 13.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,338 households out of which 38.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% are married couples living together, 14.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% are non-families. 23.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.14.
