Svitjod

Ancient name for Sweden. Probably means 'land of the Svea (Svi) people (tjod]'.

Sometimes the name Sweorice is used, as being the land of the Sveas, Sveonerna. Possibly the orginal Sweorice was not the same as Svitjod.
