Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 875 people, 383 households, and 209 families residing in the city. The population density is 309.9/km² (800.1/mi²). There are 421 housing units at an average density of 149.1/km² (385.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.17% White, 0.11% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 0.11% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 383 households out of which 20.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.3% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 45.4% are non-families. 41.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 29.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
