Statistical learning

Statistical learning deals with constructing predictive models from data when the form of the correct statistical model is unknown. The decision on the edequacy of different models can be made via statistical methods which are used to estimate both the correct model and its parameters. The models need not have the same mathematical form and none of them need be correct.

Statistical learning theory is being widely used in the areas of machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision and robotics.
