Statement

In its most general sense, a statement is a short declaration or assertion on a given subject. It can mean: (Source: from Federal Standard 1037C)
  1. In programming languages, a language construct that represents a set of declarations or a step in a sequence of actions.
  2. In computer programming, a symbol string or other arrangement of symbols.
  3. In computer programming, a meaningful expression or generalized instruction, represented in a source language[?].
  4. In logic of mathematics, a statement is another term for proposition.
  5. In music a statement is the presentation of a musical theme.
