Stand-up comedy

A stand-up comedian is someone that performs in comedy clubs, usually reciting a fast paced succession of amusing stories, short jokes and one-liners, typically called a monologue. Some stand-up comedians use props, or tricks in their act.

Many stand-up comedians go on to have their own television programs or star in major motion pictures. Famous examples of this include Jerry Seinfeld, Bob Newhart, and Bill Cosby.
