Stafford County is a county located in the State of Virginia. As of 2000, the population is 92,446. Its county seat is Stafford[?]6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 725 km² (280 mi²). 700 km² (270 mi²) of it is land and 25 km² (10 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.43% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 92,446 people, 30,187 households, and 24,481 families residing in the county. The population density is 132/km² (342/mi²). There are 31,405 housing units at an average density of 45/km² (116/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 82.00% White, 12.13% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.64% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 1.21% from other races, and 2.47% from two or more races. 3.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 30,187 households out of which 46.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.00% are married couples living together, 9.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.90% are non-families. 13.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.01 and the average family size is 3.32.

In the county, the population is spread out with 31.60% under the age of 18, 7.80% from 18 to 24, 33.70% from 25 to 44, 21.10% from 45 to 64, and 5.90% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 101.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.50 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $66,809, and the median income for a family is $71,575. Males have a median income of $47,080 versus $31,469 for females. The per capita income for the county is $24,762. 3.50% of the population and 2.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.30% are under the age of 18 and 5.30% are 65 or older.
