Squatting

Squatting is a posture half-way between standing and sitting.

Squatting is also a term for inhabiting unused land, especially in a city. It is considered a human right in most places of the world, or is effectively so, as it is not interfered with by authority.

Much land was settled in Australia by Squatters during the earlier phases of European settlement.
