Spring Lake, New Jersey

Spring Lake is a borough located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 3,567.

Geography Spring Lake is located at 40°9'10" North, 74°1'37" West (40.152861, -74.026961)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.4 km² (1.7 mi²). 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 23.39% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 3,567 people, 1,463 households, and 983 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,051.3/km² (2,723.8/mi²). There are 1,930 housing units at an average density of 568.8/km² (1,473.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 98.77% White, 0.34% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.11% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. 0.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,463 households out of which 23.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% are married couples living together, 7.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% are non-families. 29.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the borough the population is spread out with 21.8% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 19.6% from 25 to 44, 28.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.2 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $89,885, and the median income for a family is $103,405. Males have a median income of $88,924 versus $41,000 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $59,445. 2.6% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 6.6% are 65 or older.
