Spotsylvania County is a county located in the State of Virginia. As of 2000, the population is 90,395. Its county seat is Spotsylvania[?]6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,068 km² (412 mi²). 1,038 km² (401 mi²) of it is land and 30 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.77% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 90,395 people, 31,308 households, and 24,639 families residing in the county. The population density is 87/km² (226/mi²). There are 33,329 housing units at an average density of 32/km² (83/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 82.89% White, 12.45% African American, 0.32% Native American, 1.38% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.04% from other races, and 1.88% from two or more races. 2.81% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 31,308 households out of which 42.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.80% are married couples living together, 9.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.30% are non-families. 16.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.40% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.87 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the county, the population is spread out with 30.00% under the age of 18, 7.30% from 18 to 24, 32.20% from 25 to 44, 22.20% from 45 to 64, and 8.30% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.10 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.00 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $57,525, and the median income for a family is $62,422. Males have a median income of $40,909 versus $27,910 for females. The per capita income for the county is $22,536. 4.70% of the population and 3.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.20% are under the age of 18 and 4.80% are 65 or older.
