Larger version

Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, located in the Snowdonia National Park (Welsh: Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri) in the county of Gwynedd. The highest of its five peaks rises to 1,085m (3,560ft) and is known as Yr Wyddfa (an old Welsh word meaning grave/tomb).

The whole park is very popular with tourists, especially for hiking, and Snowdon is understandably the greatest attraction. There are several paths up Snowdon of different lengths and difficulties, ranging from the very easy (but long) Llanberis path to the knife-edge Crib Goch ridge. For those who do not wish to walk, or to walk one way only, the Snowdon Mountain Railway (a rack railway) runs from Llanberis[?] to the top.
