Skipton

Skipton is a town in North Yorkshire. An open-air market is held three times a week on the high street. It lies along the River Aire and Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The town slogan is "Gateway to the Dales" (meaning the Yorkshire Dales). Skipton is twinned with Simbach[?]. There is a castle dating back to the 11th century.

As well as a comprehensive secondary school, there are two single-sex selective grammar schools.

Skipton is on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle railway. There are regular services to Leeds and Bradford. Nearby towns and villages include Bradley, Kildwick, Stirton, Carleton, Gargrave, Embsay and Cononley.
