Sixth Crusade

The Sixth Crusade began in 1228. Emperor Frederick II set sail from Brindisi for Syria, even though he was laden with the papal excommunication. Through diplomacy he achieved unexpected success, Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Bethlehem being delivered to the Christians for a period of ten years.
