Silex is a village located in Lincoln County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 206.

Geography Silex is located at 39°7'23" North, 91°3'27" West (39.122968, -91.057371)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 206 people, 80 households, and 59 families residing in the village. The population density is 418.6/km² (1,074.5/mi²). There are 91 housing units at an average density of 184.9/km² (474.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.03% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 80 households out of which 33.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.8% are married couples living together, 16.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.3% are non-families. 21.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 2.97.

In the village the population is spread out with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 33.0% from 25 to 44, 18.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 106.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $24,531, and the median income for a family is $33,125. Males have a median income of $30,313 versus $19,167 for females. The per capita income for the village is $12,529. 12.5% of the population and 11.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.4% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
