Shoghi Effendi

Shoghi Effendi Rabbani was the first Guardian of the Bahá'í Faith . He was appointed to that station in the Will and Testament of Àbdu'l-Bahá. Shoghi Effendi was the eldest grandson of Àbdu'l-Bahá. He served as Guardian of the Faith from 1921 until his death in 1957 in London. Shoghi Effendi set up the administrative principles upon which all future Bahá'í institutions are to function. He is recognized by both the members of the Bahá'í Faith administered out of Haifa, and the Orthodox Bahai Faith, as the first Guardian of the Faith.
