Sherrills Ford is a town located in Catawba County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 941.

Geography Sherrills Ford is located at 35°36'48" North, 80°59'10" West (35.613279, -80.985981)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 20.2 km² (7.8 mi²). 20.2 km² (7.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.13% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 941 people, 367 households, and 273 families residing in the town. The population density is 46.7/km² (121.0/mi²). There are 383 housing units at an average density of 19.0/km² (49.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 84.48% White, 12.96% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.49% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 1.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 367 households out of which 35.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.7% are married couples living together, 8.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.6% are non-families. 21.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.56 and the average family size is 3.00.

In the town the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 32.7% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 98.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $41,406, and the median income for a family is $49,271. Males have a median income of $29,922 versus $30,400 for females. The per capita income for the town is $18,001. 6.5% of the population and 3.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 23.5% are 65 or older.
