Segregation

Segregation means separation. Its specific meaning varies with the context.

Biology The separation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis.

Geography The separation of groups from a large population, especially into different areas. See also Racial segregation.

Traffic The separation of high-traffic routes from areas where pedestrians have priority.
