Scotti

Scotti was the generic name given by the Romans to Gaelic raiders from Ireland. Some of them, from the Irish kingdom of Dál Riata in what is now Ulster settled in Argyle[?] (east gael) establishing the kingdom of Dalriada. In time the name became applied to all the people of the northern part of Britain, Scotland. It is not believed that any gaelic tribe called itself the Scotti in ancient times.
