Sarpy County, Nebraska

Sarpy County is a county located in the U.S. State of Nebraska. As of 2000, the population is 122,595. Its county seat is Papillion6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 640 km² (247 mi²). 623 km² (241 mi²) of it is land and 18 km² (7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.73% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 122,595 people, 43,426 households, and 33,220 families residing in the county. The population density is 197/km² (510/mi²). There are 44,981 housing units at an average density of 72/km² (187/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 89.18% White, 4.36% African American, 0.42% Native American, 1.90% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 1.86% from other races, and 2.20% from two or more races. 4.37% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 43,426 households out of which 43.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.80% are married couples living together, 9.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.50% are non-families. 18.40% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.21.

In the county the population is spread out with 30.50% under the age of 18, 9.40% from 18 to 24, 33.80% from 25 to 44, 19.70% from 45 to 64, and 6.60% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 98.80 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.20 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $53,804, and the median income for a family is $59,723. Males have a median income of $37,230 versus $26,816 for females. The per capita income for the county is $21,985. 4.20% of the population and 3.10% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.30% are under the age of 18 and 3.30% are 65 or older.
