Sapporo

Sapporo 札幌 (population 1.7 million) is a city on Hokkaido island, Japan. It is the capital of the Hokkaido prefecture.

In 1972, the Olympic Winter Games were held in Sapporo. This was the first Winter Olympics to be held in Asia and it opened on February 3.
