San Felipe Pueblo, New Mexico

San Felipe Pueblo is a town located in Sandoval County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,080.

Geography San Felipe Pueblo is located at 35°25'37" North, 106°26'37" West (35.426985, -106.443593)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 31.6 km² (12.2 mi²). 30.8 km² (11.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.46% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,080 people, 368 households, and 341 families residing in the town. The population density is 67.4/km² (174.6/mi²). There are 405 housing units at an average density of 13.1/km² (34.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 0.10% White, 0.00% African American, 99.18% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.43% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 368 households out of which 45.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.8% are married couples living together, 38.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 7.1% are non-families. 5.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 0.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 5.65 and the average family size is 5.60.

In the town the population is spread out with 37.7% under the age of 18, 12.0% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 14.7% from 45 to 64, and 4.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 25 years. For every 100 females there are 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $29,800, and the median income for a family is $28,264. Males have a median income of $17,162 versus $16,771 for females. The per capita income for the town is $6,225. 38.2% of the population and 34.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 49.1% are under the age of 18 and 42.1% are 65 or older.
