Ruth Benedict

Ruth Benedict was a student along with Margaret Mead under Franz Boas. One of her most famous books is The Chrysanthemum and the Sword, published in 1946. It is a study of the apparently conflicting traditions of beauty and formalism vs. warfare and honor in the society and culture of Japan.
