Roxbury, Massachusetts

Roxury today is a neighborhood within Boston, Massachusetts. It was an independent village and city from its founding in 1630 intill it was annexed to Boston in 1868.

The early settlers of the Massachusetts Bay colony established a series of seven villages in 1630. Roxbury was located about three miles south of Boston, and was connected to it by a narrow neck of land.
