Robertson County is a county located in the U.S. State of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 16,000. Its county seat is Franklin6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,242 km² (866 mi²). 2,213 km² (855 mi²) of it is land and 29 km² (11 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.28% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 16,000 people, 6,179 households, and 4,356 families residing in the county. The population density is 7/km² (19/mi²). There are 7,874 housing units at an average density of 4/km² (9/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 66.20% White, 24.19% African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 7.17% from other races, and 1.79% from two or more races. 14.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 6,179 households out of which 32.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.10% are married couples living together, 15.50% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.50% are non-families. 26.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.50% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.09.

In the county, the population is spread out with 28.20% under the age of 18, 7.50% from 18 to 24, 24.20% from 25 to 44, 23.10% from 45 to 64, and 17.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.70 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $28,886, and the median income for a family is $35,590. Males have a median income of $30,795 versus $21,529 for females. The per capita income for the county is $14,714. 20.60% of the population and 17.30% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 28.70% are under the age of 18 and 21.60% are 65 or older.
