Robert de Sorbon

Robert de Sorbon (1201 - 1274) was a French theologian.

Born in Sorbon, in the Ardennes département.

Chaplain and confessor to King Louis IX of France, he founded the Collège de Sorbonne in Paris, for the use of 20 theology students in 1257. The Collège later became the Sorbonne University.

He died in Paris.
