Robert Leslie Stewart

Robert Leslie Stewart (1918-1988), from Edinburgh, was one of Great Britain's last executioners, officiating between 1950 and 1964.

Stewart performed one of the simultaneous final executions in Great Britain, when at 8 a.m. on 13 August 1964 Peter Anthony Allen was hanged at Walton Prison in Liverpool for the murder of John Alan West, while at the same time his accomplice Gwynne Owen Evans was also being hanged at Strangeways Prison in Manchester.
