Richard R. Ernst, Swiss chemist and Nobel Laureate, b. 1933-

Ernst was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 1991, for his contributions towards the development of multidimensional, Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy while at Varian Associates, Palo Alto, California.

He studied at and now serves on the faculty of the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (Federal Institute of Technology), Zürich, Switzerland.
