Rewey, Wisconsin

Rewey is a village located in Iowa County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 311.

Geography Rewey is located at 42°50'34" North, 90°23'47" West (42.842679, -90.396486)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 311 people, 118 households, and 71 families residing in the village. The population density is 240.2/km² (626.8/mi²). There are 128 housing units at an average density of 98.8/km² (258.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.46% White, 0.00% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 3.22% from two or more races. 0.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 118 households out of which 35.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.5% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 30.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.49.

In the village the population is spread out with 32.8% under the age of 18, 10.0% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 15.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 90.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.0 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $24,643, and the median income for a family is $28,333. Males have a median income of $25,714 versus $23,333 for females. The per capita income for the village is $12,298. 10.6% of the population and 5.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 5.2% are under the age of 18 and 16.7% are 65 or older.
