Reed is a plantation located in Aroostook County, Maine. As of the 2000 census, the plantation had a total population of 207.

Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the plantation has a total area of 154.3 km² (59.6 mi²). 153.7 km² (59.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.35% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 207 people, 74 households, and 58 families residing in the plantation. The population density is 1.3/km² (3.5/mi²). There are 108 housing units at an average density of 0.7/km² (1.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the plantation is 96.14% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 1.93% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 74 households out of which 29.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.5% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% are non-families. 16.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the plantation the population is spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 29.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 41 years. For every 100 females there are 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.5 males.

The median income for a household in the plantation is $21,979, and the median income for a family is $24,375. Males have a median income of $38,500 versus $15,313 for females.
