Red Mars

Red Mars, written in 1992 by Kim Stanley Robinson, is a science-fiction novel about the settlement of Mars by the human race. It is the first volume of a trilogy - the other two novels are Green Mars[?] (1993) and Blue Mars[?] (1996).

Red Mars tells a very realistic story about the trip to Mars of an international crew of 100 people, mostly Americans and Russians. After the landing they establish the first colony, and the book goes on over the years, as more people come to Mars and create new cities there. With more people come more troubles, and even terrorism, between groups who want a 'new' Earth and people who want to build a completely new society.

The paperback has ISBN 0553560735.
