Ray (city)

Redirected from Rages, Persia

Ray (also spelled Rayy, Rages) is the most historic city in the province of Tehran (Iran), most notably it is the birthplace of Rhazes. The city is estimated to have somewhere around 2000-3000 years of age. It was built during the Median Empire. After the Mongol invasion the town was severely damaged and it gradually lost its importance in the presence of Tehran. Despite its historic significance it is not qualified as an important tourist attraction.
