Quogue, New York

Quogue is a village located in Suffolk County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,018.

Geography Quogue is located at 40°49'22" North, 72°36'5" West (40.822723, -72.601319)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 17.2 km² (6.7 mi²). 10.9 km² (4.2 mi²) of it is land and 6.3 km² (2.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 36.69% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,018 people, 453 households, and 294 families residing in the village. The population density is 93.6/km² (242.2/mi²). There are 1,322 housing units at an average density of 121.5/km² (314.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 93.03% White, 4.42% African American, 0.49% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 1.47% from two or more races. 2.75% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 453 households out of which 22.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% are married couples living together, 8.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.9% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.23 and the average family size is 2.75.

In the village the population is spread out with 17.7% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 22.1% from 25 to 44, 34.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.5 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $72,083, and the median income for a family is $76,296. Males have a median income of $66,875 versus $42,917 for females. The per capita income for the village is $50,323. 7.4% of the population and 6.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 12.2% are under the age of 18 and 7.0% are 65 or older.
