Posthuman

In science fiction and transhumanism the term Posthuman is used to describe hypothetical entities which would be engineered by humans as their successors.

Some possible ways this could come about include genetic engineering, eugenics, new medical procedures or drug treatments and cybernetic modification. Characteristics of a post-human entity would include greatly expanded lifespan, survivability, intelligence and capabilities. According to the extropian school of thought, this transformation is inevitable.

According to some anthropologists definition, we are already post-human, in that we are no longer dependent on our environment, like pre-industrial societies.
