After the enacting of the Treaty of San Francisco, Japan entered a period of peace and economic growth.

Events

In 1964, Japan staged the Olympic games in Tokyo and in 1970 the World Exposition[?] was held in Osaka. Both events attracted many Westerners, and made Japan better known in the United States and Western Europe.


This period is part of the Showa period of Japanese History
