Poljčane
Poljčane (orig. Poljčane) are a small town with 3500 citizants, situated in in the eastern part of
Slovenia, 35 km southern from
Maribor and 35 km north - eastern from
Celje. The town is a part of municipality
Slovenska Bistrica.
The town lies in the valley of river
Dravinja[?] under the mountain
Boc[?].
Town is a crossing for two important regional roads,
Maribor -
Rogaška Slatina[?] and
Celje -
Ptuj[?]. Through the town runs a main slovenian railroad. The town also have a railway station. There are also, primary school, health center, post office, two supermarkets and a lot of small pubs, bars and some resaturants. In some of them you can eat and drink the original food and wine from the region.
For he visitors, Poljčane are interesting because of the mountain Boč[?] vhich is a popular destination for one day trips which you can make with a mountain bike or on feet. From the top of the mountain is a beautifull view over the whole eastern part of Slovenia.
The town has some industry; mostely wood reproduction, construction and electronic industry. In the soroundings is also a lot of agricultural production. Many people comutes to work to
Slovenska Bistrica,
Maribor,
Slovenske Konjice[?] and
Celje.
