Point Pleasant is a borough located in Ocean County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 19,306.

Geography Point Pleasant is located at 40°4'47" North, 74°4'14" West (40.079642, -74.070419)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 10.8 km² (4.2 mi²). 9.1 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.14% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 19,306 people, 7,560 households, and 5,231 families residing in the borough. The population density is 2,111.6/km² (5,461.6/mi²). There are 8,350 housing units at an average density of 913.3/km² (2,362.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 97.83% White, 0.29% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.50% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 2.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 7,560 households out of which 32.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% are married couples living together, 10.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% are non-families. 25.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.06.

In the borough the population is spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.6 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $55,987, and the median income for a family is $64,798. Males have a median income of $50,828 versus $32,886 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $25,715. 3.2% of the population and 2.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.0% are under the age of 18 and 5.2% are 65 or older.
